What exactly is meant by "the first confidential message towards this attacker"?

Is the task specifically asking for the first message sent from A to B that the attacker is unable to decrypt? Or can it also refer to the first message sent from B to A that the attacker cannot decrypt?

It refers to messages in both directions, so either  A->B or B->A, whichever comes first.
